…to make a greater contribution to helping those with disabilities

The Farthings Foundation was registered with The Charity Commission (the ‘Registrar’) on 17th January 2023.

The Charity Commission regulate charities in England and Wales to ensure the public can support a registered charity with confidence. They are a non-ministerial department, directly accountable to Parliament.

Their strategic objectives are:

  • holding charities to account
  • dealing with any wrong-doing and harm
  • informing public choice
  • giving charities the understanding they need to succeed
  • to keeping charity relevant for today’s world.

The Farthings Foundation has two independent Trustees:

  • Phillip Melville
  • Jean MacIntyre

Phillip and Jean are retired Independent Financial Advisers who have a shared interest in a diverse range of sporting activities. Phillip himself is still a keen cyclist and Jean is a keen horse rider. They have previously been involved in supporting Children In Crisis and the Riding For the Disabled Association

The Foundation itself is wholly funded via their private means – without donation, sponsorship, or any other form of financial support by third parties.
